at Higher Learning
Amber Watts is the Program Director of Austin Justice Coalition’s Higher Learning program. This is a Saturday program for youth of color based in social justice, self-awareness, mentorship, and empowerment.
Her passion for educating youth of color derives from her own lack of an education on racism early on in her life, and she is compelled to assist young people of color in discovering their voices, and embracing their power.
She is a daughter, friend, sister, and a proud aunt. She works as a Restorative Practices Associate with Austin Independent School District, and is a certified 200 hour yoga teacher.
Amber earned her Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Winston Salem State University, and is currently working towards a M.A. in Expressive Arts Therapy at California Institute of Integral Studies.
